Lake James Pottery

I began making these clay hearts in 2014 as an outgrowth of my work with NC Certified Peer Support Specialists. The hearts honor their offering hope to people on a path to recovery and resilience.  - Genny

Members of The Genevieve Group have for decades been directly involved with the arts as a therapeutic and healing approach. Writing, drawing, painting, music, and working with clay have been natural points of connection for individuals with disabilities, people in recovery, and for people interested in resilience and wellness. Most forms of artistic expression provide natural opportunities for mindfulness as well as avenues for sharing and exchanging ideas and experiences.

In 2007 I had the good fortune to expand my love for clay to operation of my own clay studio. Lake James Pottery has expanded to locations in Chocowinity, North Carolina and Bell Island, Nova Scotia. The Studios are homes for my creative expression as well as offering a point of connection with other artists.
